We work for it!

"I feel as if I will never be recognized as a strong player because I am a girl."

DON’T LET THAT HOLD YOU BACK! It honestly makes me so sad to hear this. You have every ability to work hard, on and off the pitch, to be the best. I can name off strong women in quidditch that could take down any guy put in front of them. (Sarah Holub, Vanessa Goh, Missy Sponagle, Kaci Erwin, Christian Dowdle, Melissa White, the-tall-brunette-girl-on-Baylor-whose-name-I-don’t-know-YET, just to name a few) I’ve seen it happen and its  THIS KIND OF THOUGHT that is holding you back!

I hope this doesn’t sound mean, because that’s not what I’m going for. I just want you to break down these barriers you’ve built for yourself and focus on becoming the best, regardless of the chromosomes and bits you have.

Step 1: find an awesome sports bra.

Let me refer you to my evil twin, Aubrey Wrong ;)

"Sportsmanship" in Texas Quidditch

quidsecrets:

"It’s really hard for me to respect UT. They’re great at Quidditch but they show perhaps the least amount of sportsmanship of any team in the game. It makes me sad that they’re our example of a champion team."

As a member of Texas Quidditch, I couldn’t let this go. I am very sorry to the person who posted this and feels this way. I’m not going to pretend that we don’t play a very rough, physical game. I know that we’ve hurt people and I’m deeply sorry for any injuries caused by TXQ members. But, at the same time, we pride ourselves in our respect for female players by not giving them special treatment physically. As a female chaser, I personally find it insulting when I ever feel like people “take it easier on me” because I am female. Show me the respect and decency I deserve as a player, and I will show you the same. We don’t hesitate to put a hit on a ball carrier because we don’t want to disrespect their abilities. We always line up to shake hands—EVERY one of us—unlike some teams I’ve played. We’ve not punched or verbally taunted teams relentlessly, unlike some teams I’ve played.

The bottom line is that I sincerely apologize for any injuries we’ve caused—because that is not our goal. Our goal is to show the world that we are fearless and respectful of all members of quidditch and we display that by bringing our A-game to EVERY game. At least, this is how I feel.
